When greeting, Chinese always other "Have you eaten?", "Where are you going?" , which is ordinary in China. However, if you ask the same question to a American colleague or classmate, they will feel amazing, even if think you are offending their privacy.
If you are a Chinese, it is not strange that your relatives ask "How much do you earn in a month?“or "How much is your final grade?”, which make you
embrassaed to answer but you have to answer. Above following, Chinese seem not to respect
other's privacy.
In reality, those questions are just used to greet, especially those people they don't get
familiar with. They don't care where you go or how much you earn truly, so, they really
don't offend your privacy.
